New in the Birdcage Bottom Books shop:
Jess Worby’s “A Walk In The Park”
A Walk in the Park is a story about a meek, mustachioed office clerk named Charles, who lives a completely humdrum life until he is visited by someone a little out of the ordinary. The encounter and what follows leave Charles feeling utterly freaked out. However, his lonely and frustrating experiences in the city and the office eventually drive him into a nearby park, back towards that mysterious someone, and deeper into a world he is only beginning to understand…
8.25″ x 10.5″, 48 pages. $5
B&w cover on tan cover-stock with b&w interior
A Walk in the Park is now being distributed to stores nationally and for sale online via Birdcage Bottom Books!
Picture in Picture is a comics exhibition at Launchpad, a gallery and creative gathering place on Franklin Ave in Brooklyn. Everything on view is an original hand-drawn page by a working cartoonist.
I wrote to Mr. Shiveley late last night about my working setup. It doesn’t quite make sense in parts. Like life.
Gotta have the 2-desk L-shape situation. I’ve had the drawing desk since I was in high school, thus the hole gouged out of the left side of it. I have an Epson WF-7510 all-in-one, mostly for the 11x17 flatbed scanner, a 5-year old 24” iMac, and an iPad for reference and constant distraction….
an illustration i did a bit ago for this children’s poetry book, chocolate chips & rocket ships. it was fun to try to draw shel silverstein, dr. seuss and roald dahl in their own styles (well, dahl in quentin blake’s style), and try to get them to look good together.
